Hello! I just joined this AI group; thought I'd introduce myself. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's four years ago. Autoimmune conditions run in both sides of my family. I'm--uh, well, let's just say 'over 35' and I live in California. I've been researching and attempting to optimize treatments for my thyroid disease. I've experienced fatigue, hair loss, carpal tunnel, IBS, skin & muscle problems, allergies, and even chronic vulvar pain, although the connection of that to autoimmunity isn't yet clear. I'm definitely better than I was a few years ago, but I think there's still room for improvement!
I'm looking forward to reading the posts and learning what I can, and sharing info when I can as well (if it hasn't already been 'posted to death' that is). :) I only just signed up with LJ so my own journal setup isn't yet complete, but feel free to visit--I might post long & boring medically-oriented entries from time to time. :)
I'll post more on my history, drugs, doctors, etc. eventually--and as to the extent that my wrists hold out from the typing! Oh, and to whoever mentioned Mary Shomon's about.com site & info, I agree. Great site, and I like her books. Definitely give 'em a look-see if you haven't already and are curious about the thyroid issues.
:)
